You see, the stripy donkey is stolen, he/she/it was never mine to use and become associated with. To be fair to myself I used it as a profile picture first on twitter because I'm extremely camera shy and I wanted something that stood out. I also wanted something that was relevant to where I was geographically. So the donkey kind of stuck.
The donkey isn't just some random picture though, and this is the problem. It's a symbol of loyalty to Catalonia, an image of pride and a proverbial two fingers stuck up at Madrid and her bull, all neatly packaged in the form of a car bumper sticker, a slightly less rude version of this: The Burro fucking the Toro!
Now you may have noticed that I am not Catalan, nor do I want to dip my toes in the murky waters of whether Catalonia should be independent from Spain (for what it's worth, I say let the people decide!), so using the donkey and the flag (La Senyera) feels wrong and has done for quite some time.
Which leaves me with a problem—I need a new image. A digital make-over if you like, or certainly a new badge & icon, but one that will be as memorable as the stripy donkey.
Any ideas?
